Kathleen Charters is the Health and Wellbeing Coordinator for a regional British charity working with people living with HIV. She has worked in the HIV community for 30 years delivering holistic healthcare, complementary to HIV clinical care.
Most recently, Kathleen has acted as a voluntary community peer reviewer for the World Health Organisation Consolidated Guidelines on HIV testing and counselling and HIV self-testing and partner notification services. She is currently a community representative on the British HIV Association (BHIVA) antiretroviral therapy treatment guidelines and was also a representative on the BHIVA psychological guidelines audit.
Kathleen sits on the Board of Trustees for STOPAIDS UK and Sophia Forum and is Lay Chair of the University of Liverpool’s Institute for Infection and Global Health Patient Involvement Panel. She is a board member of UK-CAB (Community Advisory Board), a network for community HIV treatment advocates.
Kathleen worked on the steering group of Positively UK’s biennial conference (2013/2015). Since 2012, she has been a patient lead for Liverpool Community Health, designing biennial conferences for women living with HIV, “Between The Sheets”.
Kathleen is a regular contributor the University of Liverpool’s Sexual Health Quarterly bulletin.
