As part of our campaign ‘We Are Still Here’, Sophia Forum collaborated with Dr Louise Newson from Newson Health – Menopause and Wellbeing Centre, to co-develop a guide to menopause for women living with HIV.
This booklet was created through our WISE UP+ Ageing Positively weekend, where women had the opportunity to discuss and ask questions about menopause that they wanted expert answers to. The guide was developed through a co-production process drawing on this lived experience and the expertise of Dr Nneka Nwokolo, HIV clinician and menopause specialist, and Dr Louise Newson, GP and menopause specialist.
The guide responded to Number 2 in our original We Are Still Here #EightAdvocacyAsks, which spoke about the need for ‘accurate, accessible and comprehensive menopause information and support in HIV clinics’.
We are delighted to share our menopause guide with you to support health care workers, clinicians and patients to have informed conversations around the menopause.
You can read the Guide here or at the bottom of the page. A printed version of the booklet and translated versions of the booklet are also available, please contact [email protected] for more information.
In the video below, from the Dignified Menopause Summit, our director Sophie Strachan, talks about the development of the guide.
