This study presents findings from a sample of 123 HIV-positive women aged 50 years and over. It showed high rates (71%) of late diagnosis wherein CD4 count was <350, significant (90%) co-morbidities, high rates of premature menopause and early menopause and abnormal cervical smear results. Specific interventions to improve care in among women in this age group should include annual cervical smears, early counselling about reproductive options, menopause management and screening for sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
